Last Monday The Appliance Spot in Santa Rosa Beach sold a refrigerator, and the kitchen it belonged to was on the sixth floor of a tower at Pelican Beach Resort in Destin. Getting it from the sales floor to that kitchen — and getting the old one out — was our end of the deal.
A condo appliance delivery is three jobs stacked together
Job one is getting the new unit up. Job two is the swap — old one unplugged and walked out of the alcove, new one in, level, doors on. Job three is the part people forget until it is standing in the living room: the old refrigerator has to leave the building, ride down the same elevator, and go away on the truck. A delivery service that stops at job one leaves a condo owner with a dead fridge and no way to move it.
Resort towers have their own rules, and Pelican Beach is no exception. You do not park where you want, you do not monopolize a guest elevator in August, and a refrigerator crosses a tile lobby exactly once in each direction, strapped to a hand truck, with someone watching the corners. The elevator ride is the easy part — it is the doorways, thresholds, and turns on either side of it that decide whether the day goes smoothly.
The alcove is the real measurement, not the elevator
A fridge that rides the freight elevator fine can still refuse the condo. Galley kitchens in gulf-front towers are tight, the alcove was framed around whatever unit was standard twenty years ago, and handles add inches the spec sheet buries. So the doors and handles come off when they need to, the driver stays on the counter until the unit is seated, and nothing gets forced past a cabinet face.
Set, leveled, doors back on, packaging gone, old unit on the truck. The whole visit reads like one line on an invoice, and that is the point — for the store and for the owner, an appliance delivery should be a thing that simply gets handled.
