Florida law, for context: the minimum valuation for household goods is 60 cents per pound per article, and a mover that limits its liability has to give you the valuation rate in writing when you sign (Fla. Stat. §507.04). Our guide to checking a Florida mover cites the statute and how to look any mover up.
What Isn't Covered
- Jewelry, watches, cash and precious metals. Carry these in your own vehicle.
- Fine art and antiques are capped at a sub-limit (for example, $5,000 total for art) unless a special rider is attached.
- Electronics: data loss and mechanical derangement (it stops working with no exterior damage) can be excluded.
- Boxes you pack yourself: if the contents break, there's no payout, because there's no proof of mover negligence.
- Particleboard furniture.
Before the Move
Before pickup we photograph every big-value item, anything you ask us to, and anything our crew sees existing damage on.
